It was a glorious weekend from October 16-18 in Steubenville, Ohio, home of Franciscan University, for the President's Retreat, which featured the National Shroud of Turin Exhibit. Annually, President Fr. Dave Pivonka welcomes friends, major supporters and the university's Board of Trustees. Over three days, they are inspired by the Word of God, hear distinguished speakers and witness how the Holy Spirit blesses the students, faculty, and leaders of this growing and influential Catholic university.
Shown below left, Dr. Scott Hahn shared wisdom about St. Paul. On the right, Dr. Cheryl White's well-received Shroud presentation.

Shown below: Othonia's "Who is the Man of the Shroud?" traveling exhibit, owned by Pam McCue, who is pictured with Myra Kahn Adams. To the left is the viewing area for the Shroud’s introductory video. Members of the National Shroud of Turin Exhibit team were encouraged by the number of students, President's Retreat attendees, and faculty who toured the exhibit. Many repeatedly expressed gratitude for the Shroud education and faith-building experience provided by the exhibit. Special thanks go to Pam McCue who brought the exhibit in her vehicle from Alabama.

Below: The retreat weekend concluded with the unveiling of a stunning new statue of Noah. Be sure to notice the 360-degree base featuring detailed animal carvings. Noah gestures upward to the beautifully designed dove with an olive branch perched atop the weathervane of the one-year-old Christ the Teacher building, where all the President’s Retreat events were held. World-renowned "Sculptor to the Popes," Timothy Schmalz, attended the blessing ceremony led by Fr. Dave Pivonka, TOR, '89, president of Franciscan University. Timothy is a partner with the National Shroud of Turin Exhibit and is creating works for our long-term exhibit in Orlando, Florida, set to open in Spring 2026 at Mary, Queen of the Universe Basilica, just minutes from Disney World.
Timothy, shown at bottom right, is looking up to his masterpiece. To Timothy's left is Bob Hickey, with his back to the camera. Bob is VP of Development at Franciscan University. Many thanks to him and Fr. Dave for inviting the National Shroud of Turin Exhibit to their highly successful President's Retreat weekend.

Shown below is sculptor Timothy Schmalz with Nora Creech, who is part of the team producing what will be the largest and most high-tech Shroud exhibit in the world, located on the Christ Cathedral Campus in Orange County, California, near Disney Land. The Shroud exhibit opens in mid-November.

The Shroud of Turin has reached new heights of popularity, and for good reason. Jesus is the hope of the world, and His burial cloth is a reminder of what He did for us on the cross. You must decide if the "Man of the Shroud" is Jesus Christ!
