EMERGENCE! By Timothy Schmalz
The National Shroud of Turin Exhibit is honored to partner with Timothy Schmalz, a world-famous artist known as "The Pope's Sculptor." Timothy is currently crafting a bronze Shroud statue of Christ emerging from the tomb, aptly named Emergence! Shown above is an early 8-inch mini prototype. But soon, Emergence! will be finished and available for purchase, with proceeds helping the National Shroud of Turin Exhibit produce its first long-term Shroud exhibit at Mary, Queen of the Universe Basilica and National Shrine in Orlando, Florida. The sizes of Emergence! will range from 8 inches to 20 feet high. The larger size will complement your church, either inside or outside.

For over 30 years, Timothy Schmalz has sculpted large-scale, inspiring bronze creations on display worldwide. His most renowned pieces are permanently installed in historical locations in Rome and the Vatican. Timothy's series of bronze sculptures highlighting the homeless in the context of Christian values are installed across six continents, most notably his “Homeless Jesus” installed in Capernaum, Israel.

Within days of Pope Leo XIV's selection, Timothy was inspired to craft the first sculpture. It will be installed in the United States, and a future announcement about the location will be forthcoming.
